OPPORTUNITY FOR PLACEMENT FELLOWSHIP IN THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF VETERINARY OFFICER, WELSH ASSEMBLY GOVERNMENT

Lead Research Organisation: Cardiff University
Department Name: Cardiff School of Planning and Geography

Abstract

The aim of this project is to provide social science expertise to an important public and animal health policy area - that of bovine tuberculosis (TB). Specifically, it will help the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) fine tune its bovine TB eradication strategy by integrating a social scientific understanding of farming and veterinary science within its policy framework. Currently, the policy team working on TB policy has limited social research capacity. The secondment will therefore make a positive and additional contribution to their policy work.
